Xiamen intends to boost tourism by adding Fujian Tulou as one of its city cards.
Xiamen plans to create tourism products by adding the Fujian Tulou's to its tourist attractions, according to Ms. Huang Ling, Deputy Mayor of the Xiamen Municipal Government, in an overview meeting on 3 Mar. 2010.
Xiamen was ranked 4th in the list of the top 10 tourist arrival cities during the 2010 Spring Festival holiday in China and earned a local revenue of 27,163,100 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.08%. However, the overall satisfaction was only ranked 7th.
To improve tourist satisfaction, the related departments will enhance management and supervision of hostels and hotels, improving their abilities to cope with emergencies.
Fujian Tulou's are about an hour’s ride away from Xiamen. Due to poor connections between Tulou's and Xiamen, it brings much inconvenience to tourists. Making the Tulou's as one of Xiamen’s city cards will complement each other’s advantages.
“Related departments should learn a lesson and make the Tulou's as one of Xiamen’s scenic spots by providing quality services, plus improving services and reception capability in the Tulou's.”, says Ms. Huang, “As Xiamen also plans to launch Xiamen-Wuyishan air express flight, Wuyishan can also be a tourist route for Xiamen.”
